We decided to test different areas for germs. We took bread and wiped it on the areas we were testing. We placed the bread in a plastic and waited.
Our "Control" Bread (That was just a normal piece of bread that did not touch anything)
Mrs. Serra's Hands
Mr. Sommer's Hands
Picking Nose Fingers
Desk
Toilet Seat
Washed Hands
Non-Washed Hands
Hands Sanitizer
Door Knob
Whiteboard
*We wore gloves to make sure we didn't pass along any other germs
After one week we saw some mold...
After two weeks we saw more mold... Yuck!
Take a closer look....
Our Results
The desk, Mr. Sommer's Hands, Hand Sanitizer, Picking Nose Bread and the Whiteboard.
- This makes us come to the conclusion that there are many germs on those surfaces. We need to make sure we clean them.
The bread with the least mold were:
Control Bread, Non-Washed Hands, Toilet Seat, Door Knob
- We were surprised that the toilet seat and the door knob didn't have more. Maybe someone had just cleaned it.
The bread with NO mold were:
Mrs. Serra's Hands
The washed hands
- This tells us that washing our hands is very important. Mrs. Serra may have just washed her hands before doing the experiment. None of us believe her hands are always germ free.
